Thoughts from the Board - Sharon Elder

The Weld County Bar Association is pleased to announce that we will be hosting the Annual Bar Dinner on April 27, 2023 at the Moxi Theater.

Every year, the Weld County Bar Association conducts an annual meeting during which the award recipients for the year are announced and the incoming Weld County Bar Association board members are introduced. It has been over 5 years since WCBA has held this annual meeting at a dinner event.

We are honored to have Judge Mariana Vielma as our keynote speaker for the Annual Bar Dinner. Judge Vielma currently serves as a County Court Judge in the 17th Judicial District. Judge Vielma will be sharing her inspiring story of growing up in Weld County, becoming a County and District Court Magistrate in the 17th Judicial District and being appointed to the Adams County Court bench. Judge Vielma is an active member of the 17th Judicial District Access to Justice Committee and an active member of the Adams/Broomfield Bar Association. Judge Vielma is currently serving on the Colorado Women’s Bar Association Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee. Judge Vielma previously served as a board member for the Colorado Women’s Bar Association and Colorado Hispanic Bar Association. Judge Vielma was nominated for the Colorado Women’s Bar Association 2022 Judicial Excellence Award and was featured in the March 2021 edition of the Colorado Lawyer in an article titled: “A Conversation with Judge Mariana Vielma.”

We are also pleased to have Five Month Journey featuring Paul Sacco provide live music for our event. Five Month Journey consists of five guys from five towns along the front range of Northern Colorado. Five Month Journey plays all original music that incorporates various musical genres including a mix of alternative and indie rock, hard driving blues and country with a philosophical edge. Paul Sacco, of Sacco Law Firm, will be featured on guitar, lead and background vocals.

We have received about two dozen RSVPs and have plenty of room for more! We hope you will all join us in the festivities. We encourage significant others to attend, but everyone is welcome to attend alone as well. --- Sharon Elder
