Thoughts from the Board - Mark C. Gonzales

So comes the end of my second tour as president of Weld County Bar Association.  I would like to thank the other members of the board for their hard work and support over the last year.  I think we’re all still attempting to get back to “regular” (I won’t say normal) business but change is constant.  Trade offs are made in the scope of efficiency- so while it’s certainly easier to appear by Webex there is less direct communication made face to face in the hallways.  I’m hoping people aren’t getting too isolated because it’s become almost too easy avoiding everyone.

We are having our Nuts and Bolts training on December 1, 2023 at the Greeley LINC library downtown.  While we’ve had many different locations over the years, the best attended sessions seemed to be the ones downtown.  Certainly the after session get togethers were better attended.  I’m hoping people take the opportunity to see old friends and meet new acquaintances.  I’m not sure of many other low cost 8 hour CLE sessions you can attend that also includes lunch.

Another social event is going to be Weld County Legal Services Golf Tournament in September- Vickie Taylor will be sending out specifics very soon.  It will be held at Highlands Golf Club/Bogeys and will have a silent auction.  This event is a very important fundraiser for a critical service to our community.  Please try and attend if at all possible!

Brynne Gant is your new president and I know she will do a wonderful job with sights on expanding our electronic footprint with WCBA.  Milena Rodionov is incoming president and will be organizing some lunch CLEs.  I hope to see you around at WCBA events in the future and thank you for the opportunity to serve as president!
